buildOn’s Global School Construction Program helps entire regions of developing nations take the first steps of out of extreme poverty.
The Ambassador Trek Program offers our supporters the opportunity to fund and then travel to break ground on a buildOn school in Haiti, Nicaragua, Nepal, Senegal, or Malawi. While volunteering in one of these countries, you’ll live and work side-by-side with local villagers and build a personal relationship with the community along the way. You will dig the foundation, tie the rebar and mold the bricks with the parents whose children will attend the finished school.
Outside the construction site, you will live with a host family, most likely without electricity and running water, but always as an honored guest. You will participate in cultural activities organized by buildOn, such as: learning to make tortillas in Nicaragua; visiting with the village midwife in Senegal; or touring buildOn schools that are already in use.
These ventures offer enormous insight into the community and culture of buildOn’s project countries, as well as a way for a group of friends or co-workers to enrich their relationships with one another. (Many corporations, including British Airways, have used the Ambassador Trek Program for team building.)
Personal Fundraising in Action
Using our personal fundraising platform, We buildOn, you can raise $30,000 to build a school. We buildOn makes group fundraising user-friendly — 15 friends can join forces, each raise $2000, and then make plans to be en-route to a life-changing experience.
For more information and complete travel details contact Melissa Sanseverino at melissa.sanseverino@buildon.org or 203-585-5391. A buildOn Ambassador Trek is not a vacation – it’s hard work, but it’s an experience you will never forget.
