Our work wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication of our students, supporters, and community partners. That’s why we are proud to present two recipients with the inaugural Constructive Leadership Award at this year’s gala. The award will honor the members of the buildOn movement who embody the very best of buildOn and the leadership so desperately needed in the world today.
At buildOn, we believe that leadership is about building others up. It’s about putting people first and learning to lead by first learning how to serve. Our students and community members are living this philosophy every day as they serve in their own communities and build schools in the villages that need them most. They know that there is a new path to leadership, and it starts with service.
Whether spending quality time with homebound senior citizens in the Bay Area or breaking ground on a village’s first proper school in Burkina Faso, our students and community members are serving to make life better for those around them. We believe that real, meaningful change happens when people band together in the service of others.
Our leadership philosophy extends beyond our students and community members. We want everyone to be a member of the buildOn movement. Across the county and the world, our partners and supporters are stepping up to build schools abroad and serve in solidarity with our students in the U.S.
