In Santa Maria del Cedro, Nicaragua, Maritza del Socorro Gutiérrez isn't just a teacher–she's the bedrock of the community. Her story embodies determination, perseverance, and a burning passion to educate. Maritza learned the value of education firsthand when she was unable to go to school as a child due to the Nicaraguan Revolution. This inspired her to become a teacher, and eventually, a towering force for good in her community. Our newest blog post explores her 20-year quest to build a new school in Santa Maria del Cedro so that her students could have a safe, dry place to learn.
