buildOn Celebrates 500 Schools Built, 1 Million Hours Served
buildOn is excited and proud to reach two huge milestones this month: 1 million hours of service contributed by these students locally, and 500 schools built in developing countries worldwide. We’ll be celebrating this momentous event on October 13.
Over 1,000 teenage buildOn members who will doing service in each of our regions, starting at noon EST. Student from the Bronx to Oakland will hold local literacy fairs, serve meals at homeless shelters and care for the elderly at local senior citizen homes.
Everyone will convene at select locations for refreshments and fun at 5 p.m. EST. buildOn supporters and staff will speak about the importance of the day, and the highlight of the event is watching a live stream from the inauguration of buildOn’s 500th school worldwide in the village of St. Hillarie, Haiti! buildOn’s Vice President of International Programs, Rosann Jager, will be in St. Hillarie asking community members questions submitted by students via Facebook, Twitter and the comments section of this blog (please submit below!).
