Members of the Movement: Zach and Mallory
How many couples do you know who would dedicate their honeymoon to tackling the global education crisis through service?
After getting married in August 2014, Zach Wendel and Mallory Foster pledged to do just that by partnering with buildOn to construct a school in Malawi.
Service had been a focus for the couple throughout most of their lives. In 2009 they had even volunteered in Ghana as fourth grade teachers. After that experience, Zach and Mallory always talked about building a school as a “dream project.” But, since graduating college they found that their hectic lives, between work and family obligations, left little time for volunteering.
That all changed when they decided to ask for donations to build a school, instead of wedding gifts. And, this past November their “dream project” became a became a reality when they traveled for their honeymoon with buildOn to break ground on the school.
