NCS Technology raises funds for a buildOn school in Malawi

NCS Technology, based out of Canada, is a global provider of Management Solutions and Services to the mining industry. As their first initiative with buildOn, they’re raising funds to build a school in Malawi – and they’ve already raised more than $3,000!

Why was NCS Technology inspired to help build a school in Malawi?

This year we wanted to do something different, something that can really change lives. We have many clients in Africa and have traveled there frequently, so we understand the inequality, poverty and lack of education that affects many African countries. We decided to work with buildOn because we wanted the opportunity to be a part of the change, and have the ability to visit the community and build the school with our own hands. This is also going to be a great team building exercise for our employees as well.

What is your strategy for raising the funds and how are your employees getting involved?

We have many fundraising activities including:

• Donations from customers and partners
• Fundraising events for friends and family (prochetta bingo…instead of winning money you win porchetta…it’s a Sudbury thing)

What do you hope to gain from the experience?

We hope to increase the team spirit and morale of our workplace. We want to give our employees something that they can be proud of. We want to help those who need it, and give the children of Malawi a bright future. This school is going to last for years, and change so many lives. We are so proud and happy to be a part of this.
