Teza Technologies Helps Breaking the Cycle Campaign Raise $235K

When our Breaking the Cycle campaign began we set out to fund an afterschool program at an under-resourced United States high school and the construction of a new school in Malawi, Africa. Thanks to you and thanks to Teza Technologies, we not only reached our goal, we surpassed it!

Teza generously matched donations dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $100,000. As the clock struck midnight, and the new year began, the campaign had raised a total of $235,000, more than three times our original goal.

The money will support buildOn’s Afterschool Service Programs in under-resourced Chicago Public High Schools, and will go to building schools in Malawi, Africa.

The donations from our campaign empowers at-risk Chicago public school students to transform their neighborhoods through intensive community service. buildOn’s Afterschool Programs also take students to some of the poorest countries on the planet to build schools.

“At Teza, we believe everyone deserves a chance at a quality education, and that is why we are proud to support buildOn’s programs. Whether creating afterschool activities in Chicago or building the schools themselves in East Africa, buildOn has an unparalleled record of helping young people achieve academic success,” said Misha Malyshev, CEO of Teza Technologies.

Breaking the Cycle donations also fund schools in rural Malawi villages. Malawi is ranked among the world’s 20 least developed countries on the UN’s Human Development Index, and has long been challenged by lack of access to education. Now over 200 children will have a safe place to learn, and at least half of the school’s students will be female.
