They buildOn: FXDD Supports buildOn Through Service, Building a School in Nicaragua
FXDD, one of buildOn’s newest donors, is giving back to the global community in a big way. The online Forex trading company considers client education to be vital to its core values, so it was appropriate to carry this passion for education beyond the company’s operations. FXDD discovered buildOn and immediately began raising money to create technology that will help people learn. FXDD’s first project was to build a school in Nicaragua. Locally, FXDD went to the Bronx to do service side-by-side with high school members and community volunteers. Now, FXDD is donating $10,000 to five charities (buildOn included) through its Community Giving Program, “$10K to Charity,” a Facebook competition that ends Thursday, October 4.
We interviewed John Corbett, FXDD’s Director of Marketing, to find out how the company is breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy and low expectations.

How were you introduced to buildOn?
We discovered buildOn on Charity Navigator. We wanted to focus on education-based charities and found that buildOn ranked among the most reputable organizations.
As an international company, FXDD felt buildOn was a great match. We wanted our charitable efforts to reach people on a global scale. We partnered with buildOn to raise money to build a school in Nicaragua, while also sending employees to do two service trips in the Bronx. At home, we volunteered at Brook Park in February and at Claremont Park for the Bronx is Blooming event in May. This gave us a hands-on opportunity to give back to New York, the city where we are headquartered, while also helping overseas.
Why is buildOn a good fit for FXDD?
We wanted to work with a charity that aligned with what we do as a business. One of the most important aspects of our business is educating our clients. For us, the only thing more gratifying than teaching people how to take control of their finances is giving underdeveloped areas the means to teach their youth. In this way, we are taking a step of ending global illiteracy and paving the way to a smarter, more promising future.
