Education creates opportunity. It helps girls stay in school and shape their own future. It also helps women build skills, confidence, and a stronger voice in their communities.

At buildOn, gender equity is central to our work. We partner with communities to build schools that expand access to education for girls, while our Adult Literacy Programs help women strengthen their literacy, leadership, and opportunity.

A new study from Senegal shows what that access can do. In communities with buildOn schools, primary school graduation increased by 47% for girls. Researchers also found strong increases in primary school enrollment after school construction.

buildOn’s Adult Literacy Programs show similar progress for women: incomes rise by 54% after participation, 97% report greater confidence, and 83% feel motivated to lead. Most graduates from our Adult Literacy Programs are women.

These numbers reflect real change. More girls in school. More women gaining opportunity. More communities moving forward.
