Since 1993, buildOn has been deeply embedded in the fabric of Bridgeport and remains unwavering in its commitment to our students. We are rising to the challenge to continue our important work by engaging students in free service-learning programming in three Bridgeport high schools—Bridgeport Military Academy, Harding High School, Fairchild Wheeler Magnet High School.

Our Service Methodology
Service is at the heart of buildOn’s mission. Each week, students make a meaningful impact by serving those in need and helping improve their neighborhoods.
Seventy-five percent of buildOn activities focus on direct service, like serving meals, tutoring children, and connecting with seniors. The other twenty-five percent includes beautification projects, such as cleaning graffiti, creating public art, and planting gardens to feed their neighbors.

Meet Barbara! A buildOn Alum.
Growing up, I didn’t have support. I was in and out of foster care and never felt like someone was there for me. buildOn gave me a safe environment and a place to call home. It felt like a family—no matter what, I could always turn to my buildOn family.
Barbara is now attending Post University, studying Business and Sports Management. She credits her buildOn family’s support for putting her on the path to success in life.
